What we offer

  • Tuition Assistance

    The Jessie Banks Foundation tuition assistance provides financial support to Scholars who wish to pursue higher education

  • Mentorship Program

    The mentorship program aims to provide the mentee with guidance, feedback, and support to help them develop their skills, knowledge, and abilities

  • Financial Literacy

    Our program provides students the knowledge and skills needed to make informed and effective decisions regarding personal finances

  • Health Care Awareness

    Health care awareness program provides the knowledge and understanding of health care-related issues, health promotion, and access to health care services

Scholar Requirements

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Jessie Banks Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must:

  • Be a graduating, minority high school senior or College Freshman

  • Reside in the Tri-State Area ( NY, NJ , CT)

  • Present evidence of financial need

  • Demonstrate a record of academic excellence, 3.0 GPA or higher

  • Demonstrate leadership potential and a dedication to community service

  • Submit an official SAT and/or ACT test exam score from junior or senior year*

  •  Plan to attend an accredited and approved 4-year college within the United States or affiliated with a United States-based college or university

  • All JBF Scholars MUST plan to be PRESENT at the Annual Scholarship Awards Gala

Application Components

The Jessie Banks Foundation Scholarship application includes:

  • Senior Photograph

  • Two (2) Letters of Recommendation from a School Official (Principal, Guidance Counselor, Teacher, College Instructor)

  • One letter of reference from a Supervisor from your Community Service and/ or Volunteer Work Assignment/s

  • Official School Transcript

  • An Initialed and Signed Scholar Agreement

  • SAT and/or ACT scores

  • An essay of approximately 750 words selected from one of the following topics:

    • Describe a historical or current event – discuss the valuable lessons learned and the impact and inspirations that you have ascertain from the event.

    • Describe a meaningful experience or person that has had a profound impact on your life and how it has affected you.

    • What are your career goals and why?
